Request for Information ignored by officials
Some of the Information requested by the newspaper included a list of all media organisations in the province, and the amount spent by the municipality in advertising. The council was further requested to state their position with regards to media diversity in the province. The list of all the councilors and officials who own businesses and have disclosed their business activities was also requested. The municipality had to state its position regarding transparency and accountability of elected public figures. MISA-SA and Open Democracy Advice Centre (ODAC), are assisting the newspaper in accessing the requested information.
